The faculty for this program is Kevin C. Maki, PhD, Chief Scientist for the Midwest Biomedical Research Center for Metabolic and Cardiovascular Health. Dr. Maki specializes in the design and conduct of clinical studies in human nutrition, metabolism, and chronic disease risk factor management. He holds Adjunct Faculty positions teaching Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Illinois Institute of Technology and DePaul University, and has participated in more than 250 clinical trials and observational studies as an investigator, consultant, or statistician. Dr. Maki has been studying the relationships between diet and diabetes risk for more than 25 years.
About the Course
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is an enormous public health concern worldwide that affects nearly 30 million people in the United States alone. Diet is a vital tool not only for managing diabetes, but also for preventing it.
